Job Overview: PHL Prekindergarten is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cleaner/Janitor to join our school team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in various cleaning environments, including commercial/school and residential spaces. This role is essential in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards across facilities, ensuring a welcoming and safe atmosphere for all students, teachers, and families. Hours listed are the minimum weekly range, with possible addition when needed for events. Time frame may range from anytime between 3:15pm-8:15am M-F on days when the building has no shared space evening rentals, or between 9:30pm - 8:15 am on evenings there is shared-space rentals happening. More details can be provided in the interviewing process. **Candidates must pass all PA and Federal clearance background checks.
*Position is a school year position, with some summer hours required.
Responsibilities: Perform routine cleaning tasks in assigned areas, including offices, restrooms, and common spaces. Specific tasks lists are provided for each classroom/area to follow. Execute floor care duties such as sweeping, mopping, buffing, and vacuuming to maintain high cleanliness standards. Conduct deep cleaning tasks as needed over breaks, etc., or after evening events a few times per year, ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Assist with custodial responsibilities, including waste disposal and recycling efforts. Provide support in facilities maintenance by reporting any maintenance or safety issues or repairs needed. Engage in minor maintenance projects when required to enhance the safety or appeal of spaces. (I.E. - batteries in smoke detectors, camera issues, safety issues reported with furniture, etc.) Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring all tools are in good working condition and notify when things are running low. Collaborate with school team members to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality service delivery.
Possibility of earning more hours if you choose to work for the church as well, with whom we share the building.
Flexible schedule to fit around school hours as well as any shared spaces with the church as the church rents out some of our shared spaces in the evenings. Having a second worker or back-up person is a plus, as these cleaning services during the school year are important to be completed every school day.
Experience: Previous janitorial or custodial experience is preferred. Familiarity with commercial/school cleaning practices and standards is advantageous. Experience in floor care techniques and equipment operation is a plus. Background in minor facilities maintenance/upkeep will be beneficial for this role but not required. Knowledge of industrial cleaning methods and safety protocols is desirable.
